Spurs set for Everton clash

SPURS will get their teeth into the Toffees this weekend as they look to cement their place in the Premier League top four.

With boss Harry Redknapp predicting that the race for a Champions League place will probably go down to the wire, he will certainly know the importance of picking up three points against Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

While many reckon fourth spot is a straight race between Spurs, Man City, Liverpool and Aston Villa, this weekend's visitors will be intent to throw a spanner into the works.

The Merseysiders have been in fine form of late and have quietly moved up to eighth position.

Though they are eight points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, they do have a game in hand.

And three points at the Lane this Sunday, provided they win that game in hand, would put David Moyes' outfit just two points behind the Lilywhites.

That is why it is vitally important Spurs do not lose. They will not want another side breathing down their necks as the race enters the final stages.

Tottenham moved up to the coveted fourth position with a 3-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Sunday, Jermain Defoe and a late Roman Pavlyuchenko brace seeing off the Latics. With Man City and Liverpool playing out a goalless stalemate, it proved to be a good weekend for the Lilywhites.

Everton have just beaten Man United and Chelsea in their last two Premier League matches, so Redknapp knows his side will have to be at their best.

Sunday's match kicks off at 1pm.
