Tottenham are eyeing a possible move for Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul in January, it has been reported.
The Dutchman has been in superb form this season and saved a Frank Lampard penalty on Saturday, even though his side went down 3-0 at home to Chelsea, but he is contracted to the Magpies until 2014 and is thought to want to remain at the club he joined as a teenager from Den Haag.
The Chronicle has reported that Krul is “one of a number of young goalkeepers they have in mind” as they seek potential replacements for current number one, 40-year-old Brad Friedel, and Carlo Cudicini, who is 38.
Tottenham’s other keeper, Heurelho Gomes, is expected to move on when the transfer window reopens next month after falling out of favour with manager Harry Redknapp.
