SPURS moved closer to a Europa League place with a 1-0 win over struggling West Brom at White Hart Lane.
Jermaine Jenas hit the only goal of the game.
With rivals Fulham losing, it was a good weekend for Tottenham, though West Ham United and Manchester City were also victorious.
Jenas coolly slotted home from 25 yards with his right foot two minutes before the interval.
Albion put up a brave fight and Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted: "They outplayed us in the first half."
He added: "It was another clean sheet which is important and (Heurelho) Gomes had some important saves to make."
Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, Woodgate, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Palacios, Jenas, Modric, Pavlyuchenko (Defoe 65), Keane.
Subs Not Used: Cudicini, Hutton, Bale, Zokora, Bentley, Huddlestone.
