Redknapp satisfied with season end

SPURS boss Harry Redknapp declared himself satisfied after his side secured a top-half finish in the Premier League.

Though Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Liverpool ended all hopes of gaining a place in the Europa League, Redknapp was not too disappointed.

"It's been a hard season but it's terrific for us to finish where we have," he pointed out. "Our away form hasn't been good enough this season, but we brought in a couple of lads (at Anfield) who don't play regularly and it shows us what we need next year if we're going to push up and close the gap on teams like Liverpool."

Captain Robbie Keane added that Spurs should be proud of the way they finished the campaign.

"I think we have to be happy overall with the way we have finished the season, considering we were hovering close to the bottom of the table when I came here.

"We saw some big clubs (Newcastle United and Middlesbrough) get relegated over the weekend, so we have to be pleased with the way we have performed in the second half of the season."

Keane netted Tottenham's consolation at Anfield. With Fulham losing to Everton, a win would have been enough to secure seventh spot for Spurs.

However, Tottenham can still be proud of the turnaround. Redknapp arrived at White Hart Lane with the Lilywhites rock-bottom. Few fans then would have thought their team would end the season challenging for a place in Europe.

Now Redknapp has the job of making sure Spurs start better next time. If they do, they could yet be challenging the 'big four'.
