SPECULATION is mounting over the future of Jermaine Jenas at White Hart Lane, writes Alex Sexton.

Media reports are suggesting that the England international is emerging as a target for Manchester City.

The former Newcastle player has been an integral part of Juande Ramos' side this season and helped the team secure their first competitive trophy for nine years. However, reports suggest that Ramos is having a clear out at Spurs this summer and that City are interested in the 25-year-old.

There have also been reports that the Englishman has put his house on the market and told his Estate Agent that he will not be looking to purchase another property in the capital. The midfielder has been with the club for three years and has made 78 appearances, but has increasingly frustrated the management with his inconsistent form.

Sven Goran Eriksson is a keen admirer of Jenas and included the midfielder in his England World Cup squad in 2006, before departing to become City boss. Tottenham paid close to £9 million for the player and will want to recuperate as much of that as possible.

Money doesn't seem to be an issue for Eriksson as he has the financial backing of owner Thaksin Shinawatra and has been told that there will be transfer funds available. The Eastlands manager is looking to test the Spurs resolve with an offer rumoured to be around the £12 million mark.
