Spurs reported to have had bid rejected for Brazilian striker
Marcelo Moreno

SPURS have had a reported £4million bid for Brazilian striker Marcelo Moreno rejected by Cruzeiro.

The Brazilian side's president Alvimar Perrella admitted the club had knocked back a bid for the highly-rated forward, dismissing it as "well short" of what they wanted.

"The proposal was well short of what we expected," said Perella. "For now, Moreno remains here and we count on him in Brazil. Of course, they should return to make a new offer but, until now, no they haven't."

It is understood that Ukranian club Shaktar Donetsk have also made an offer for Moreno, thought to be in the region of £6million.

Spurs are on the hunting trail for a new forward as Dimitar Berbatov looks to be on his way out of White Hart Lane this summer.
