Chambers would prefer team glory with Orient

ORIENT midfielder Adam Chambers claims he would much rather have enjoyed team success this season than secured yet more individual awards this week.

Fresh from securing the Star Man and Captain's Player of the Season Awards at the recent Supporters' club's annual end of season dinner, the former West Brom man scooped the Club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year prizes at the O's official presentation evening.

Speaking after the event at the Dorchester Hotel on Monday, Chambers said: "I'm not really one for individual awards, because while I'm proud to win them I'd much rather have success as a team.

"That means winning promotion, or making the play-off's and I would certainly have swapped all of what I've won to have done either of those with Orient this season."

Manager Martin Ling was full of praise for a player, who only missed one competitive match all season.

He said: "Adam has had another fantastic season with us and to only miss one game proves he is well over the injury problems he has had with his back in the past.

"In fact I 'd back him every time if he was put up against other club's fittest players in a competition in this league.

"I'm just delighted we've got him contracted for another two years because I'm sure he will be a big part of what I want to achieve at this football club in the future."

Adam Boyd won the Goal of the Season for his winner at former club Huddersfield. Jason Demetriou collected a couple of awards, after being named as Young Player of the Year and Vice Presidents' Player of the Year.

Teenager Solomon Shields won the Youth Team Player of the Year award.
