West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic set up the only goal of the game for Austria, who beat Russia last night in a friendly.

Arnautovic played 83 minutes and laid the ball back to Schalke midfielder Alessandro Schopf, who made no mistake from the edge of the area to hand Austria the lead just before the half-hour mark.

The West Ham man almost added a second after half-time when his volley struck the bar, before he was replaced by Deni Alar with seven minutes to play.

Arnautovic has enjoyed a successful debut season at the London Stadium, winning West Ham's Player-of-the-Year award having notched 11 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions, with that form reportedly attracting the interest of Manchester United.

Those rumours gathered pace last night when pictures surfaced on social media of United boss Jose Mourinho at Austria’s game, with the Hammers reportedly valuing the forward at £50m.

Austria are back in action on Saturday when they take on current World Cup holders Germany in an international friendly.
