With just over a week to go until the transfer window slams shut, West Ham’s summer revamp looks set to continue with the Hammers reportedly eyeing up a move for Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater.

The England international, who only moved to Stamford Bridge last summer from Leicester City, could be allowed to leave by Maurizio Sarri after an injury hit campaign with the Blues.

That news has alerted the attention of West Ham, who are apparently looking to bolster their midfield and attack before the start of the campaign, especially with star man Manuel Lanzini set to be ruled out until the New Year through injury.

Any move for Drinkwater could pave the way for an exit for Cheikhou Kouyate, who has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace in recent weeks.

The Senegal international could also be followed out of the London Stadium by Pedro Obiang, who has been the subject of interest from Sampdoria.

Drinkwater came through the ranks at Manchester United but it was with Leicester where he really made his name, playing a prominent role as the Foxes won the Premier League against all odds in May 2016.

He was also a part of the Leicester squad which won the Championship title as well and was a mainstay in the Foxes’ midfield during his time at the King Power Stadium, scoring 13 times in 218 appearances in all competitions.

The 28-year-old’s form earnt him a move to Chelsea last summer but it proved to be a tough first season for Drinkwater at Stamford Bridge, with injury restricting him to just 22 appearances.

With Antonio Conte being sacked by the Blues recently, the England international’s future with the former Premier League champions is looking increasingly uncertain, with new boss Sarri apparently keen to bring in his own players this summer.
