HAMMERS midfielder Valon Behrami is desperate to put his injury nightmare behind him after making a successful return to competitive football for the reserves in last night's 6-0 drubbing of Birmingham City.
A knee injury has kept the Swiss international on the sidelines for the last six months, but he made his comeback last night, and emerged from the field of play unscathed after an hour's work, in which he caused the Blues plenty of problems.
Behrami insisted it was 'great' to be back, but hoped that he would never have to endure a similar ordeal.
“I enjoyed it a lot. For me I've had a very hard six months,” the 24-year-old told the club's official website. “Every day, I had to work on my rehabilitation so it was a great feeling for me to play in this game. It was a target for me over the last six months just to arrive here and be fit and just to enjoy what I'm doing. It was fantastic for me.
“This, for me, is a great day, and I hope this day never returns again and I never have this difficult situation again like the last six months.”
