ELLIOTT Ward says West Ham are determined to finish their first season back in the Premiership on a high by getting a result against London neighbours Spurs on Sunday, writes Laura Burkin.

While there is understandably one eye on the forthcoming FA Cup final the Hammers have already cemented a top ten finish by beating relegated West Brom 1-0 on Monday. They have a few injury concerns ahead of the weekend, the most serious being Dean Ashton who tweaked his hamstring against the Baggies, but Ward said that players including himself were giving the boss a few selection dilemmas.

Ward said: "The FA Cup is in our thoughts and I don't think anyone can blame us for that. But at the same time we want to get a result against Spurs and so do they to keep fourth place.

"It was an important win for us at West Brom, because we've been in the top ten of the league all season which I think we've derserved and we want to finish there we would have been disappointed if we didn't.

"We didn't play our best but ground out a win and want a result against Spurs to finish as high as we can." Ward revealed that the team were gutted that midfielder Hayden Mullins will miss the final after an appeal against his red -card against Liverpool last week was turned down.

He said: "We were devastated that Hayden, who has been a rock in our midfield this season, has to miss out.

"Hopefully whoever does come in can do a good job."
