West Ham United have reached an agreement to sign former Wigan midfielder Mohamed Diame.

The Senegal international left Wigan after his contract expired at the end of last season.

Diame, 25, told the club website: "I'm very happy and very excited to have joined the club and I'm looking forward to the start of the season.

"I know the fans here get behind the team all the time and I'm looking forward to showing everybody what I can do on the pitch."

He is the Hammers' third signing after the club agreed deals for goalkeepers Stephen Henderson and Jussi Jaaskelainen.
