We were unlucky against Chelsea

CHELSEA'S goal looked offside on Saturday but that's the way football is sometimes. Joe Cole also put away his chance which was the difference on the day.

Although we didn't get the result we can take a lot of positives out of the game - not many teams go to Stamford Bridge and play as well as we did.

Our midfield ran them off the park and the back four were also brilliant once again.

Gabs was unbelievable and did really well against Drogba. He is starting to show his real qualities.

It's going to make it really difficult for me to get back into the team but it is good to have that type of competition in the squad. It makes everyone try that little bit harder to keep a starting spot.

There are a lot of games in December and there's going to be a lot of changes in the team. Hopefully, if I get back in, I can do well enough to stay there - I'm certainly looking forward to the challenge.

First though, I have to get back in. My hamstring is a recurring injury which has kept me out for three or four weeks and has been really annoying.

I should be in training by Monday but I'm about another two weeks away from playing, maybe a bit longer. This injury is all about making sure things are right to start playing again and a target for me is the league game against Everton.

Before that though, the team have got some important games coming up. We're looking forward to Sunday and need to get our league form back on track. The game starts off a run over the Christmas period where we will be looking to get as many points as we can.

Blackburn are a good side and we had a lot of luck there last year which helped turn our season around. Hopefully we can get a similar result this time round.

We've also got the quarter final Carling Cup game next week, where we've managed to get ourselves in a good position. While we are concentrating on each game as it comes, this is one one game we definately have our eye on.

The Carling Cup has often been criticised but you only have to look at the teams who have won in recent years to know it's an important competition.

For one, it's a chance to play at Wembley and I'm sure those boys who played in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago will want to play in a game like that again.

It's also an avenue into Europe which is something we're eager to do.

We know Everton will be tough to beat and they're going well - but so are we. They've also been playing more games than us recently because they're in the UEFA Cup, so hopefully that will take its toll.

Aside from football we paid a visit to Queens Hospital in Romford to see the kids this week. Every Christmas we do it to try to brighten up their day and give out presents - it's nice to think what we do makes someone feel good.
