Sunderland v West Ham, Saturday, March 29, 3pm, Barclays Premier League
 |
| Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe (c) |
LAST MEETING: West Ham 3 Sunderland 1 (Barclays Premier League, 21-10-07)
LAST TIME AT STADIUM OF LIGHT: sunderland 1
West Ham 1 (Barclays Premier League, 01-10-05)
HEAD-TO-HEAD: Sunderland 27 wins,
West Ham 28 wins, 19 draws
FORM: Relegation-threatened Sunderland recorded their first Premier League away win - 1-0 at Aston Villa - on Saturday to end a four-game winless streak.
That result has given the club hope that they might remain in the Premier League next season.
The win also takes the pressure of Roy Keane's men having to rely on their form at the Stadium of Light - where they've recorded seven league wins this season - for survival.
The Mackems now have a decent run-in for their final seven games, including fixtures with fellow strugglers Fulham, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Bolton.
DANGER MAN: While hardly prolific in front of the net, Kenwyne Jones is the club's top scorer this season with five goals.
But it is the Trinidad and Tobago frontman's all-action powerful displays which makes him a handful for defenders.
Boss Roy Keane will rely heavily on his £6m early season capture to help steer the club clear of relegation.
FUN FACT: Sunderland fan Neil Tennant's Pet Shop Boys' band mate Chris Lowe produced the first and only musical single - "Do the right thing" - of former-
West Ham and England star Ian Wright.
PREDICTION: Sunderland 1
West Ham 1
9:49am Saturday 29th March 2008
