HEADED goals from defenders Anton Ferdinand and Matthew Upson capped an impressive West Ham comeback against Manchester United at Upton Park this afternoon.

The Premier League champions led through a first half Cristiano Ronaldo header. The goal came against the run of play as Hayden Mullins, Mark Noble, Nobby Solano and Lucas Neill all went close.

But Ronaldo flashed a second half penalty wide of the target following Jonathan Spector's handball.

And the miss inspired the Irons to rally late on - Ferdinand equalised from Noble's corner, before Upson headed a Noble free kick into the top corner in the final ten minutes to seal only a third home win of the season.

West Ham: Green, Neill, McCartney, Upson, Spector, Solano (Pantsil 49), Parker (Ferdinand 55), Mullins, Noble, Ljungberg (Ashton 70), Cole. Unused subs: Wright, Camara.
