West Ham United captain Kevin Nolan has urged the club to push to improve on last year’s tenth place finish in the Premier League and says record signing Andy Carroll is the man to lead the charge.

Carroll, who scored seven times on loan last year for the Hammers, completed his £16m move from Liverpool earlier this summer. Nolan, last year’s top scorer for the east London side, feels the club now have the fire-power to push for a European place.

“We’re looking for double figures — me, Andy, all the strikers have to chip in with a fair amount if we want to finish top ten again”.” Nolan told The Sun.

“The expectancy within the camp is to do better than last season. We want to make sure we’re tenth or above this year.”

Boss Sam Allardyce is looking to add further attacking options before the season curtain raiser on August 17th and is currently in talks with former Chelsea front man, Salomon Kalou, about a possible move to Upton Park.
