West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce looks set to table a fresh bid for out of favour Chelsea striker Demba Ba in January.

In an attempt to end West Ham’s barren run in front of goal, Allardyce will look to try and bring in the Senegalese international to freshen up his striking options.

With Andy Carroll still sidelined and other front men Carlton Cole and Mladen Petric struggling to find their goalscoring touch, the East London club has failed to score in six of their last ten fixtures.

Allardyce told The Mirror: “We tried to get three top loan strikers who play in this country but we failed to get all three. They went elsewhere and played for another club and one stayed where he was.

"We will have to try again depending how Carlton and Mladen go before the end of January.

"If they come good and Andy gets back there will be no need for another striker."
