West ham might not have been playing this weekend but all in all it was a pretty good turn of events results-wise.

Despite not kicking a ball only the Cardiff Fulham game could have ended in a more favourable outcome for the Hammers with Crystal Palace and West Brom both losing at home and Norwich and Stoke unable to pick up three points.

Having been forced to rearrange this Saturday's game with Hull, because of their continued involvement in the fa cup, it meant we weren't involved at all in a limited premier League programme on Saturday.

The fixture list put together a number of other sides involved in crucial games as we approach the stage of the season Sir Alex Ferguson once described as squeaky bum time.

Norwich and Stoke drawing one all at Carrow Road, coupled with the sending off of Jonathan Walters means both he and Charlie Adam will be suspended for our visit on March 15 which can only be a good thing for us as they are two of Stokes biggest threats.

While West Brom getting thrashed at home by Manchester United will have done nothing to ease the increasing pressure on Baggies boss Pepe Mel and the fact they’ve won just one game in 18 doesn't bode well at all.

Cardiff beating Fulham 3-1 was perhaps the only result which didn't go to plan from a West Ham point of view but Cardiff winning at least puts Fulham in the mire.

They now appear to be getting cut adrift slightly and I don't see them having enough to avoid the drop.

And what about Palace? Having earned all the plaudits in recent months following the dramatic turnaround in fortunes under Tony Pulis they're now right back in it too after losing to Southampton.

On a side note, It was interesting to see Ravel Morrison bag a brace, his first goals since he arrived on loan at qpr.

Whether we ever get to see him in a west ham shirt again remains to be seen but as I've already said about him previously his talent is frightening and I do hope he's able to return to the fold with West Ham eventually.

What did make me laugh was Harry Redknapp's comment that QPR's other west ham loanee Modibo Maiga needed to “make me want to pick him”.

Is he really surprised?

That's been the problem all season for the Malian. Lack of confidence is one thing but not putting a shift in is different and I've seen far too many games where he's looked almost disinterested. I don’t know what Redknapp thought he was signing?

West ham face a big next few games with Man United and Hull at home to follow Stoke away and then Sunderland after that.

Let's hope we can keep our momentum going because after defeat at Goodison Park we could have probably done with a game sooner rather than later.
