West Ham United are edging closer to signing Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate, according to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

Kouyate, 24, is reportedly undergoing a medical today and is expected to finalise a four-year-deal in the next few days.

Sam Alladyce is looking to bolster his backline before pre-season begins, with the Irons believed to be paying £7.5 million for the defender’s services.

The Senegalese centre-half made 47 appearances in all competitions for the Champions League club last season, helping them win the Belgian Super Cup.
