West Ham United has not undermined manager Sam Alladyce by appointing an attacking coach, according to co-owner David Sullivan.
Former Hammers forward Teddy Sheringham became part of the coaching staff last month after the club’s board looked to help Alladyce with the attacking set-up at Upton Park.
“Yes, we suggested the idea, but Sam liked it,” Sullivan told the Daily Mirror.
“We didn’t undermine him at all,” he continued. “We had a lot of people approach us to become our attacking coach and Sam picked the one he wanted.”
“I believe we will be a better team for having him as part of our management set-up.”
Sheringham, 48, returns to his old club where he helped the Irons gain promotion back to the Premier League in 2005.
