West Ham hope to sign Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang next week, according to Forza Italian Football.

Reports in Italy suggest the Hammers are intent on signing the 22-year-old – assuming a price can be agreed.

Although the East London club were previously put off by the midfielder’s hefty price tag of €8m, it is understood Sampdoria are now prepared to accept less for the Spaniard, who has one Under-21 cap.

Obiang arrived at Sampdoria in 2008 from Atletico Madrid and has since become a key player for Samp, making 98 appearances.

Serie A giants Milan are also understood to be keen on the all-action midfielder.
