Sam Allardyce is set to hand £12m summer signing Enner Valencia his full West Ham United league debut tonight when the Hammers face Hull City (8.00pm).

The Ecuador international has only made two substitute outings in the Premier League, having been handed his first and only start for his new club in the League Cup defeat by Sheffield United.

Valencia missed the crucial penalty against the League 1 Blades, sealing the Hammers’ early exit in the competition on penalties.

Signed off the back of an impressive showing for Ecuador at the World Cup, where he scored three times, Valencia is set to make his full league debut for the Hammers at the KC Stadium tonight.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Allardyce said: "He's ready to get the opportunity to go and play. He scored against Bolivia and hopefully he will start scoring for us very shortly.

"It will be great once he gets out there and produces what he did at the World Cup. It's the goal threat we really need more of this season.

"He's one of our major signings and we hope he is going to be very successful."

Allardyce was quick to bolster his forward options this summer, adding Mauro Zarate and Diafra Sakho to existing strikers Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole.

And the Hammers boss now feels he has a good selection of forward players from which to pick.

He explained: "Sakho, Valencia, Zarate and Carroll is a good variation for me to start selecting from," the manager added.

"How do you keep the position? By doing what we expect and that's contributing in the build-up as well as in the critical position of finishing the chances we create. We want to get to 50 goals this year.

"We need these players that we bought to produce the goals at this level like they have produced elsewhere."
