West Ham are celebrating an awards double after Sam Allardyce and Diafra Sakho won the Premier League Manager and Player of the Month honours for October respectively.

Allardyce took his honour off the back of a perfect results month in which he guided the Hammers to fourth in the table following wins against champions Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and at Burnley.

Sakho scored in all three of those victories to make it seven goals in seven starts since moving to east London from Metz during the summer.

"We all enjoy life more when we're winning football matches and certainly life has become that little bit easier for us all in recent weeks, with the reward being a very nice trophy,” Allardyce told West Ham’s website.

"The pinnacle of October was obviously beating Manchester City, but the most important thing was being able to put away two teams we were expected to beat in QPR and Burnley. Because we did that, we had the platform to go into the Man City game with confidence and the impetus to beat the champions.”
