West Ham have slipped to sixth in the Premier League after being beaten 2-1 at Everton this afternoon.
With five key players out through injury – including the strike pairing of Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia – Sam Allardyce gave a start to Andy Carroll, but the hosts made it 13 Premier League games without defeat against the Hammers when Leon Osman converted a Samuel Eto’o cross in the 73rd minute.
Romelu Lukaku had given Everton the lead in the 26th minute when a blocked Ross Barkley shot fell for him. But the visitors were back on terms 11 minutes after the restart when a deflected Mauro Zarate shot looped over Tim Howard.
