Diafra Sakho and Alex Song are "in contention" to return for West Ham United this weekend, but Sam Allardyce will make a late decision on their possible inclusion against Swansea City on Sunday.

The Hammers are only a point and a position behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League and will seek a third straight top-flight victory when the seventh-placed Swans visit Upton Park.

Allardyce spoke to the media ahead of the game this morning and told West Ham’s website: “Diafra Sakho and Alex Song have been training with us this week. They’re both in contention to make the squad but we’ll have to wait and see because they’ve both been out for a while. We don’t want to throw them in too early and risk further injury.

“Mark Noble could also make it but we don’t have much time after the injury he picked up last weekend.”

The mood around Upton Park is buoyant following the victories against Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion and Allardyce is now looking for his team to continue to push on ahead of the festive period.

He said: “Yes, we’ve bounced back from the defeat against Everton with two wins and now we want to maintain that level of performance and get some consistency. We want to build some momentum ahead of our massive Christmas fixtures with Chelsea and Arsenal.

“We know both those games will be very, very difficult so to get as many points as we can beforehand will be very useful.”
