Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani has claimed that he turned down the chance to move to West Ham.

The 26-year-old was linked with a move to the Premier League club in the summer following his performances for Algeria at the World Cup.

“It is true that there was an offer from West Ham, but I was happy with my team and I made a good choice. Stability is positive,” the forward told A Bola.

However, Slimani has not ruled out a move elsewhere in the future, adding: “I am focused on finishing the season at full strength and win a title, at least. Then we’ll see. Maybe next year.”
