West Ham United have had a £7 million bid for Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis rejected, according to Sky Sports News.

Manager Sam Allardyce is said to be keen on bolstering his strike force after Andy Carroll picked up another ankle injury and Carlton Cole being linked with West Bromwich Albion.

The 29-year-old Frenchman has scored just one goal in 19 eague appearances in an underwhelming start to his Premier League career.

However, last month the Swans boss Gary Monk insisted his summer recruit is an important member of the team and will at least stay until the end of the season.

He told the Daily Mail: "I had a chat with him and what I said to him I will keep between me and him. He is a good player and I can’t afford to lose any more good players.

"Every player in the world has a possibility of moving but it doesn’t mean that possibility has to come to a reality. It is up to the club what happens and Bafe is far too important to us."
