West Ham United host Manchester United at Upton Park on Sunday (4.15pm kick off), looking to earn a first home league win against the Red Devols since 2007.

The Hammers have a miserable record against United, winning just once against them in east London in the last eight years, with goals from Matthew Upson and Anton Ferdinand separating the two sides in December 2007.

Seven points and five places currently separate the two sides, with United third and the Hammers eighth in the Premier League.

Despite their poor record against United, West Ham have been much improved this campaign and are undefeated in nine of their last ten home league matches, though they have just one victory in their last six top-flight fixtures.

Louis van Gaal’s side have only won three games away from Old Trafford this season but importantly they have only lost twice on the road.

A rare victory for the Hammers over United could reignite Sam Allardyce’s sides ailing European prospects after an indifferent run of results.

However Manchester United almost have a full quota of players to choose from – with former Hammer Michael Carrick missing through a calf strain - and are undefeated in 12 of their last 13 Premier League matches.

The east Londoners aren’t quite so fortunate, with six players missing, most notably Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and James Tomkins.

However the Hammers can call on sharp-shooter Diafra Sakho, who scored against United in the reverse fixture, following a back injury.
