Joint-chairman David Sullivan has thanked the travelling West Ham United fans after Saturday’s FA Cup exit at West Bromwich Albion and assured they will endeavour to finish as high as possible in the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce’s side were undone in round five at The Hawthorns, with Brown Ideye scoring either side of the break to add to strikes from James Morrison and Saido Berahino.

Hammers midfielder Morgan Amalfitano was sent off with 20 minutes remaining – and just ten minutes after coming on – for pushing West Brom captain Chris Brunt in the face.

Speaking to the club website, Sullivan said: "I'd like to personally thank every West Ham fan that went to The Hawthorns and assure them that we will be doing all we can to make sure we continue for push for as high a place as possible over the remaining 13 games in the Premier League.”

He continued: "We know it's doubly disappointing as we had made progress in the FA Cup a priority for this season, as was demonstrated by our strong line-ups in the three games we'd played previously.

"It will take a few days to get over this loss but we have to dust ourselves down as we have the fantastic opportunity of bouncing back in the big London derby with our neighbours Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

"We hope to have several of our injured players back and with a good recovery and preparation period I believe we can go to Tottenham with confidence that we can get a result.”

The Hammers travel to rivals Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday, looking to halt a run which has seen them win just two of their last 12 in all competitions.
