West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has been charged by the Football Association after telling a Twitter user to "f off you c***".
The 31-year-old has been charged for the comment which was made in reply to a user who tweeted Cole directly to say: "Hi @CarltonCole1 when your own team mates don't kick the ball out when you're lying injured for 2 mins, you think it's time to call it a day?"
Cole response has seen him charged by the FA, with a short statement saying: "It is alleged that the comment was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or brings the game into disrepute."
He has until 6pm on March 5 to respond to the charge.
