Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan, has confirmed that the club expect to announce their new manager within the next 48 hours.

Hammers fans will be keeping a close eye on proceedings after Sullivan tweeted: “Cheeky update -we expect to announce our new manager within 48 hrs or less, keep visiting official WHU web site, where it will be announced.”

Slaven Bilic remains favourite to take over at Upton Park following Sam Allardyce’s departure.

According to The Telegraph, the West Ham board have met with the Croatian, but are yet to offer him a deal.

Sevilla boss Unai Emery is, however, not expected to take charge at Upton Park. Instead it is understood he will sign a new deal with the Spanish side.

And Sullivan then tweeted: “We expect a major player signing this week, I'll update you as soon as it’s done.”

The east Londoners have been linked with out-of-contract French forward Andre Ayew as well as Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang.

Ghanaian international Ayew scored 11 goals for French outfit Marseille last season as they finished fourth in Ligue 1, while Obiang played all but four games in Serie A for Sampdoria last term.

The Spanish midfielder was tipped to move to Upton Park last summer but after a move never materialised, he has been heavily linked to replace Alex Song who is unlikely to remain at the club.

Marseille manager Marco Bielsa has also been tipped for the manager’s job and could bring Ayew with him should the club offer him a deal.
