West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has told supporters to expect a handful of new signings before the season begins.

Speaking to the club website, Sullivan admitted the current Hammers squad needs adding to and made it clear he and joint-chairman David Gold are working hard to bring new faces in before the season gets underway on July 2 with Europa League qualifying action.

He said: “I hope we will have a few more players with one or two very exciting signings. We will be making bids for players and will see what will develop over the coming weeks.

“We know we need to strengthen the squad and have competition for places. We are not panicking and know we have plenty of time.”

The club have recently been linked with the likes of Marseille winger Dimitri Payet and Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson, who was on loan at Upton Park last season.

Former Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang became West Ham's first signing since the appointment of new boss Slaven Bilic, with ex-Birmingham City goalkeeper Darren Randolph signed prior to the Croat's arrival at Upton Park.
