West Ham United look to have missed out on re-signing Carl Jenkinson, with Sunderland having reportedly agreed a loan deal with the full-back.
Jenkinson, currently on international duty with England’s Under-21s, was on loan with the Hammers last season from parent club Arsenal.
But according to the Daily Mirror, the Black Cats are close to bringing the 23-year-old to the Stadium of Light in a similar agreement ahead of the 2015/16 season.
He played 32 of West Ham’s 38 Premier League games last season and new manager Slaven Bilic was understood to be keen to bring the one-time England international back to Upton Park.
Arsene Wenger has insisted that Jenkinson has a future at Arsenal but would like him to experience regular first-team Premier League football for another season before he competes to be the Gunners’ first choice right-back.
