Alex Song’s potential move to West Ham United appears to be in doubt after the player picked up an ankle injury.
According to reports in the Mirror the Barcelona midfielder has been told he will need surgery on his ankle to remove a bone fragment.
If this is the case, Song’s permanent switch to the Hammers could be in serious doubt as he will miss a large part of West Hams opening games.
However, the club instead may bring the player in on another season long loan with a view to permanent deal at the end of the season.
West Ham may now look elsewhere for a permanent midfielder as they try to bolster their squad ahead of the Premier League season getting underway.
The 27-year old made 28 league appearances last season and has since reportedly agreed personal terms. Now, though, any potential deal hangs in the balance.
