West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has demanded his team stay grounded after their strong start to the season.

With wins away at Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Crystal Palace on Saturday, the Hammers find themselves fourth in the Premier League table.

But Bilic told the club’s website “the only thing that is sure is that we are not going to get carried away [by their early form]”.

The manager also praised Andy Carroll’s impact as a substitute at Selhurst Park.

The striker played a crucial role in breaking Crystal Palace’s resilience, reaching a ball at the far post and causing panic in the Palace penalty area before Manuel Lanzini turned the ball home.

After the game Guardian Sport reported Bilic’s praise of his striker: “He’s skilful, he’s got good vision, he’s got good ideas, he’s a great player... we are so happy that he is back."

Lanzini, the beneficiary of Carroll’s knockdown, continued his fast start to his West Ham career with the goal to break the deadlock on Saturday.

The loan signing from UAE club Al-Jazira told the club’s website: “I’m very happy for the points and very happy too because we stay high in the table... it was also very pleasing to score”.

The 22-year-old Argentine’s goal was his third for the club and he added: “I just have to keep going and try to score more goals and give more performances like this one."
