Dimitri Payet has revealed he feels pressurised to score from every free-kick he takes after scoring another wonder goal for Euro 2016 hosts France in their warm up friendlies.

The Hammers star struck in the 90th minute to secure the 3-2 win against Cameroon last night, scoring his second set-piece goal since his recall to the squad in March when they faced the Netherlands and Russia.

The 29-year-old was one of the most-feared Premier League set-piece takers and scored four throughout last season.

“When you score one, then two, then three, the crowd expect that you score every time, that doesn’t always happen,” he told L’Equipe.

Payet’s goal came after the French attacking midfielder said it is very likely he will stay at the east London club next season.

He was linked with a big-money move away from West Ham following a fine Premier League debut season.

Payet joined the Hammers from Marseille last summer and was handed a new five-and-a-half year contract in January to fend off any potential suitors.

“Journalists have placed me everywhere, but I currently have no contact from other clubs and I signed a very long contract with West Ham,” he said when speaking to French reporters.

Payet scored 12 times and provided the same number of assists in the Premier League but admitted he can always learn and he still hopes to progress further.

However, he is not the only player at the club to express his delight at wearing the claret and blue shirt, as Reece Oxford has been surprised how well his breakthrough season went.

The defender made 12 first-team appearances for the club, captained the development squad to Under-21 Premier League Cup glory and picked up Young Hammer of the Year award.

“I feel like my hard work has paid off now so I’m happy that I have been awarded by the club, I didn’t think I’d have moved to where I am now so quickly,” he told the West Ham website.

“I did think I was going to push on, but I’m just happy I’m here right now doing what I’m doing, hopefully I’ll be playing week in, week out."

The 17-year-old’s campaign began with three UEFA Europa League games before he made his Premier League debut against Arsenal helping the Hammers to record a 2-0 opening-day victory.

Goalkeeper Darren Randolph also impressed for the Republic of Ireland in their final matches before Euro 2016 in France.

It is expected Ireland boss Martin O’Neill will select the shot stopper as his number one for the tournament which starts on June 10.

Ireland have not been drawn in the easiest of groups as they go up against Sweden, Belgium and Italy in Group E.

However, Randolph told the West Ham website he is relishing the chance of having a busy summer.

He said: “This season, I’ve played probably a lot more than I could have hoped for, I played a lot of league games for West Ham and helped Ireland qualify for the Euros.

“So as first seasons go, it’s been pretty unbelievable.”
