Chelsea 4 West Ham 1

7:52pm Saturday 13th March 2010

WEST HAM were dragged further into the relegation mire after a heavy defeat at the hands of Chelsea.

Alex put Chelsea in front with an early header, but the Hammers hit back with a stunning long-range shot from former Blues player Scott Parker.

That is how it stayed for the remainder of the first half, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side ran rampant in the second period.

Didier Drogba headed home a Florent Malouda cross to take the lead for Chelsea. Malouda then got himself on the scoresheet, slotting past Robert Green, and Drogba wrapped the points up when he tapped home late on.

The result leaves West Ham in 16th in the table and just three points above the drop zone.
