West Ham are reportedly close to signing former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old Iceland star spent last season with Fulham but left the club following manager Mark Hughes' departure from Craven Cottage.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has worked with Gudjohnsen before at Bolton Wanderers and is looking to improve his squad as they prepare to mount a promotion challenge in the Championship next season.
