Sam Allardyce has handed league debuts to Kevin Nolan, Matt Taylor and Joey O’Brien as the Hammers welcome Cardiff City to Upton Park.
England pair Scott Parker and Rob Green both make the starting line-up, while new boy Abdoulaye Faye is on the bench.
Carlton Cole is also named as a sub for the Hammers while Frederic Piquionne starts up front.
Cardiff, managed by former Hammers defender Malky Mackay, have named a strong side with former Rangers striker Kenny Miller leading the line alongside Rob Earnshaw.
