Hammers linked with Wolves winger
WEST Ham are lining up a £3.5 million bid for sought-after Wolves winger Michael Kightly, according to media reports.
The 22-year-old (pictured) was picked up by Molineux boss Mick McCarthy from non-league Grays in 2006 and has made an effortless transition to league football.
The Basildon-born youngster - once a target for Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson - missed five months of the season with an ankle injury.
But that has not stopped the rumour mill linking him with a move to a top flight club. Spurs, Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Everton have all reportedly been weighing up a move for the former Southend United player.
Irons boss Alan Curbishley is also an admirer and, with Wolves missing out on the Championships play-offs, is ready to beat off any competitors to take the England U21 star to Upton Park.
