WEST Ham defender Anton Ferdinand could be on his way to Newcastle as speculation surrounding his future at Upton Park intensifies.
Magpies boss Kevin Keegan is looking to shore up his back line and holds the 23-year-old in very high regard.
Keegan joins an ever-growing list of admirers for the ex-England U21 international, with Spurs and Aston Villa also reported to be preparing bids.
An offer of around £6 million is thought to be the figure that Newcastle will bid to lure the defender to St James Park, although the Hammers will be looking for close to £10 million.
Last week Ferdinand claimed that he knew nothing about potential interest in his signature, and stated that he would return to the Boleyn Ground for pre-season training.
