Celebrity stars in race for luxury
The new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! is due to get under way in typically dramatic fashion as the two teams race each other across a snake-infested island in a bid to win one last night of luxury.
Fresh off the plane, the celebrities were taken to a barren island off the east coast of Australia and each given walking boots and a GPS system to help them find a helicopter at the other side of the island.
At stake was a final night in a hotel room, with the losers having to set up a makeshift camp.
MP Nadine Dorries found the challenge difficult and struggled to negotiate the tough terrain, saying: "It's tough. It's walking in sand, it's walking up hills."
The controversial politician took charge of her team's task of navigating a boat across a lake and acted as cox, but the boat sank before they reached the other side.
Speaking about her role in the task, she said: "I knew it was important to have a strategy and be co-ordinated and tight. I didn't lose my rag but I think I was direct in what I expected other people to be doing."
There was more drama as former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan broke down in tears as she attempted to face her fear of heights on a high wire.
The star found herself high above the rainforest perching precariously on the narrow wire, which she had to cross to the other side to get into the camp.
Meanwhile, boxer David Haye and reality television star Hugo Taylor faced the first bushtucker trial of the series and squirmed as they touched rats, maggots and cockroaches.
Other contestants on the latest series include presenter Brian Conley, Doctor Who actor Colin Baker, darts champion Eric Bristow, actress Charlie Brooks, former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts and Loose Women panellist Linda Robson.
