Radcliffe keen for drag queen role

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe lost his virginity to an older woman and the age difference would "freak some people out", according to US reports.

But the 19-year-old actor, who is about to appear on stage in Broadway, New York, said the age difference "wasn't ridiculous".

His appearance as psychiatric patient Alan Strang in Equus will involve him appearing naked on stage eight times a week, as he did last year in London.

In an interview with the US style magazine Details, he also said that he would like to play the role of a cross-dresser in the future.

"I think part of me would love to play a drag queen, just because it would be an excuse to wear loads of eye makeup."

Radcliffe, who is known for living a quiet life away from the celebrity party circuit, said: "I don't pretend to do anything particularly wild.

"People talk about rebellion and they say, 'Where is the teenage angst?'

"But I say I try to do it simply by the choices I make in the work I do. I just like wrong-footing people. I write poetry and I love it.

"I like being different from most other people in my generation."

In the interview with the magazine, which appears in its October issue out September 9, Radcliffe, who earned 25 million US dollars (£14m) last year according to US business magazine Forbes, said he was single but did not have time for a girlfriend in his life at the moment.
