Gary Barlow was instrumental in coming up with the way the music was written for new TV series Britannia High, according to Arlene Phillips.
Talking at the launch of the show, its creator and Strictly Come Dancing judge said: "David Ian, who I worked with on creating the project, works with Chris Neil a lot, he's a very close friend.
"And Chris was working with Gary Barlow writing songs, and he said 'ooh, should I talk to Gary?' Fabulous," she said.
"And we had a lunch with Gary and almost instantly as we talked to Gary about it, he wanted to be involved.
"It was just like everybody on Britannia High - (everyone who) we've talked to has wanted to be involved.
"And Gary had this idea... to get writers together, listen to the stories and virtually write to the stories with a great musical writing team."
Britannia High follows the trials and tribulations of pupils at a performing arts school.
The first episode will be broadcast online in October - a week before it goes out on TV - on the Britannia High website.
