AN X-FACTOR style competition to find a local band to support the New Beautiful South will be launched later this month.
The New Beautiful South, made up of members of the popular 80s and 90s pop group Beautiful South, are playing Walthamstow Assembly Hall on Feburary 13 and are searching for a support act.
The band, with the help of Walthamstow-based Red Onion Dance Studio, are launching a competition to find a singer/songwriter or band to open their gig for them.
Acts of all sizes and genres can apply, but they must write and perform their own music.
Applicants will need to upload, three original songs in mp3 format, a video, photographs and biography to a website.
There will be two age groups, under 19years and 19 and over. Five bands will be shortlisted in each category and there will be a live audition in the New Year.
Full details of how to apply will be published later this month.
