A CHARITY rugby match is being organised by former pupils at Davenant Foundation School in Loughton to raise money in support of a friend with leukaemia.
Peter Cross, 18, who did his A-levels at the school this year, has recently been diagnosed with the disease and wants to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, which has helped him through his treatment so far.
His old school friends have organised the match in his honour and will each donate money to play against the school's current first team, as well as raffling off signed England and Charlton Athletic football shirts and collecting from spectators.
His friend Tyler Lawrence, 18, said: “We want to try and raise as much money as possible.
“Peter was meant to come on holiday with the boys, but he was not able to, we we said we'd have to do something before we went off to uni.
“We asked him what his chosen charity was and the Teenage Cancer Trust was it, because they've supported him well.”
The match will kick off at 2.30pm at the school in Chester Road and there will also be a charity football match there at the same time on Friday.
