Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the M1 in the County of Hertfordshire and the London Boroughs of Barnet and Harrow, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure, in phases, of both carriageways of the M1 between Junction 1 (A406) and Junction 5 (A41/A4008), and all the roads leading to and from these lengths of carriageway.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, bridge, drainage, street lighting, electrical, geotechnical, and signage works and all associated maintenance activities. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 13 months starting on or after Friday 4th February 2022. The overnight closures will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 hours every day. (maximum periods): Please note this is part of an order covering other parts of the network, these closures may take place at any time within the works period. Please check the National Highways website for specific details. The Order will come into force on 4th December 2021 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing then or whenever all phases of the work are complete, whichever is sooner.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using other junctions on the M1, and by using theA41,A405, andA406. The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
