Alexandra Palace has shared the programme for its annual free summer festival, now re-imagined as The Great Fête, which will take place from 12pm on Saturday, August 17. The Great Fête will build upon the success of the charity’s annual summer event and will be a celebration of the Palace’s story of innovation and entertainment as well as the work it does with partners and communities across Haringey.

The Great Fête is a nod to the events that have been held within the park and Palace throughout its unique history. For over 150 years, the North London landmark has been welcoming visitors looking to relax, be entertained and discover the site of many great fairs, spectacular events and technological breakthroughs.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

On Saturday, August 17, Alexandra Park will play host to a delightful and eclectic mix of entertainment, education and performance with something for all ages. The Great Fête will be a distillation of everything the charity stands for.

Across the park there will be three live music areas featuring up-and-coming talent alongside international names including a DJ set from the legendary DJ Yoda. The festival will also welcome back the hugely popular Silent Disco in the Woods and there will be a screening of the classic film Bladerunner in the theatre. There will also be a dedicated play zone hosting a variety of activities for children, including arts workshops and a crafting bazaar.

StrEATlife, Ally Pally’s free street food and craft beer festival, will run alongside the event and will feature some of the finest names from the street food scene.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

The event has been programmed by teams across the charity and will also feature activities run by local groups including theatrical performances from Haringey Shed who will be doing a promenade across the grounds, exploring a large and strange structure arriving in Haringey. You can also learn how to grow your own veg at home with Edible London. Come early to sample some of their delicious veg and bring any growing-related questions their way for any troubleshooting you have on your own patch.
