A group which seeks to raise awareness of the history and ecology of Wanstead Park led a walk around the much loved open space at the weekend.

The third in a series of five walks organised by the Friends of Wanstead Parklands, took participants on a leisurely stroll around the less frequented eastern side of the park, and focused on the Ornamental Water and the River Roding.

Guides pointed out surviving features of the historic gardens, and magnificent vistas toward the Grotto and the site of Wanstead House.

Two more walks are planned for August 18 and October 20.
