Police are appealing for witnesses after a stabbed man taken to hospital in a taxi was put in an induced coma.
Westley Murray, 33, believed to be from Walthamstow, arrived at Queen’s Hospital in Romford in a dark-coloured Toyota Prius at 1.10am on Sunday.
He had a stab wound in his abdomen and the driver of the car had to get two men to help him transfer Mr Murray from the car to a wheelchair.
But the driver, whose vehicle had a TfL sticker typical of London cabs, drove off as the man was wheeled into the hospital.
Detectives are now urgently appealing for anyone who may know the driver, or saw Mr Murray, in order to find out what happened to the man.
Detective Sergeant Rob Baxter said: "We are trying to piece together Westley's movements in the hours leading to him being stabbed. If anyone knows where he was and who saw him please let us know, you may have vital information about how Westley came to be stabbed.
"Also I'd ask the driver of the car and the two men who helped at the hospital to get in touch with us, you must have information that can help us track down who was responsible for the attack on Wesley.
“You took action that may have saved Westley's life but he still needs your help.”
Anyone who thinks they can help can call 01708 779 216.
